Our Story
Able Foundation is an independent, registerednon-governmental and non-profit civil society organization based in Lilongwe,Malawi.
Founded in 2018 by a group of educated, dynamic, andlike-minded professionals working in the health and development sector, ourorganization was established to address the urgent and pressing needs of youthstruggling with Dyslexia in the education sector. Originally named"Dyslexia Malawi," we evolved into Able Foundation to better representour growing mission.
Our work is driven by the knowledge of the massivechallenges dyslexic students face, and how these challenges diminish theirchances of a successful future both academically and in life. We are committedto turning this tide through advocacy, capacity building, and direct servicedelivery.

Mission:
To raise awareness on Dyslexia and make effectivetraining available online and in other media. This ensures that strugglingstudents in any school around the nation and the world can be identified earlyand educated appropriately to manage their Dyslexia.
Vision:
To see children and youth become independent in lifeand reliable citizens through an education process that is tailored to theirdifferent needs, skills, talents, and passions.
Goal:
To improve learning outcomes of children with specialeducation needs through personalized creative learning.

Our Focus
We follow a need-based and rights-based approach, fully involving the communityand mobilizing local resources. Our work focuses on three core thematic areas:

- Health: Promoting well-being and support for those with special needs.

We maximize our impact by transferring field experience into knowledge to influence development policies andpractices of NGO`s , Donors<
Local Partners
We work with local partners such as the Fount for Nations Foundation Malawi to implement initiatives like the donation of mattresses to Lilongwe Demonstration Primary School, which caters to special needs pupils.
International Partners
We collaborate with global leaders like the International Dyslexia Association (UK), who volunteer to train government school teachers on understanding and teaching students with learning difficulties.
Our Play-Based Curriculum
At Able Foundation, we teach life skills through joyful, hands-on activities rather than traditional academics alone. Through dance and movement, we build coordination, memory, and focus while turning lessons into engaging choreography.
Knitting and weaving develop fine motor skills,patience, and sequencing in a calm, therapeutic space. Molding and potteryallow children to express themselves creatively while improving sensoryintegration and relieving anxiety.
Painting, drawing, and music are woven intoevery subject, ensuring every child has a pathway to success regardless of howthey learn best.

Our programmes are designed to identify individual strengths, develop abilities, build confidence, and create opportunities for greater independence and participation.
Our work includes inclusive education, dyslexia awareness, learning support, skills development, talent development, disability inclusion, community awareness, and capacity building. We also work with parents, teachers, schools, communities, and other stakeholders to promote a more inclusive society.
